Bats and Bat Recording
Something that could be both interesting and useful is to record sightings of bats in your garden and around your house. Most of you will be unable to identify the species of bat....... but that doesn't matter!

Let`s see how well bats are doing in the county!!!

The following should be noted:
Date;
Time;
Location
6 figure grid reference1 or address;
Number of bats
number visible at one moment, but if they are seen emerging from a roost the total seen emerging;
Whether they are foraging
flying around an area for a while;
or commuting
passing straight over without any circling;
Any evidence of a roost
bat seen emerging from a tree or building, or returning to a tree or building before dawn;
Species
if you have a bat detector and experience of using it to identify bats;
Records without species ID are still useful .... and if we find something extraordinary I`m sure the Bat Group will be keen to investigate.

Please send your records to Bob at bats@bnhs.org.uk
